She's funny and tender and witty and deep. Anne Lamott, one of my great literary sheroes, was in town last night on her "Small Victories - Spotting Improbable Moments of Grace" book tour and I was there in the center on the fourth row pinching myself and marking it off my bucket list.
So giddy to have stood in line for Ms. Lamott to sign my book, I forgot to tell her my name, so she just signed hers. I did slip her a little note however, and I told her that my birthday would be on Friday. After signing about 300 books, she looked up at me, smiled graciously, and said, "Happy Birthday."
