While at the doctor's office, a picture on the wall, titled, "Every Woman Should" intrigued me so much that I want to share it with you in this weekly series appropriately named: "Every Woman Should". Every Tuesday, I write about the next line in the poem/essay. Of course, I would love to hear about your experiences on the topic in either the comment section or on your blog. (Just grab the badge on the sidebar, but please be sure to link back here).
The next line tells us that Every Woman Should: 12) Have better things to do...
Don't you always have "better things to do?" I know I do but, I'm learning that it doesn't mean I should always do them.
One Saturday morning, my youngest came downstairs to find me stretched out on the sofa, drinking hot tea and staring at the ceiling. Alarmed by my laziness, she asked "What are you doing?
"Nothing," I said. "Not a thing."
"But, why not?" she wanted to know.
My children are used to seeing me preoccupied, busy, absorbed in everything, and distracted by nothing. There seems to be something, almost all of the time, lurking in the background wanting or needing my attention. Better things to do. More important things to take care of.
But sometimes, you just have to let it go.
